Privacy

This is a personal experiment, not a company. It is written plainly because the honest version is short.

What we access, collect, store and use

There are no accounts on this site, so none of the below is tied to an identity.

  • The preference text you write. Accessed when you submit it, sent to our server and to Anthropic's API to interpret, stored in our server cache for up to 6 hours and in your own browser's localStorage until you clear it.
  • Your IP address. Accessed on each request and used only as the key of a rate-limit counter. Stored for under an hour. Never stored alongside your preference text.
  • Usage events. That a preference was submitted, a feed was built, an item was opened, and which ranking mode and format it came from. Counts only.
  • YouTube API Data. Video titles, channel names, thumbnails, durations, view counts and video IDs returned by the YouTube Data API. Stored in our cache for a maximum of 6 hours, then deleted.
  • YouTube user data: none. This site never signs you in to YouTube, never requests OAuth authorisation, and therefore accesses, collects and stores no YouTube user data, no watch history, no subscriptions and no authenticated data of any kind.

What you type

The preference you write is sent to our server, to Anthropic's API to interpret it, and is stored in our cache for up to 6 hours so that an identical preference does not have to be rebuilt. It is also saved in your own browser's localStorage so the page remembers it between visits.

It is not linked to your name, email or any account — there are no accounts. Clearing your browser data removes the local copy; the cached copy expires on its own.

Your IP address

Used for rate limiting, so one visitor cannot exhaust the API budgets this site runs on. It is stored only as part of a short-lived counter that expires within the hour, and is not used to identify or track you.

Analytics

Vercel Web Analytics records page views and a small number of events — that a preference was submitted, that a feed was built, that an item was opened, and which ranking mode and content format it came from. These are counts, not profiles: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and nothing that identifies you.

Search terms and ticker lookups are counted but their contents are not stored.

YouTube

This site uses YouTube API Services to find and display videos matching what you describe. Topics derived from your preference are sent to YouTube as search queries. Videos play in YouTube's own embedded player, and doing so means YouTube may set cookies and collect data about you directly, under its own terms rather than ours.

By using this site you are also agreeing to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

What we store, and for how long. Video titles, channel names, thumbnails and IDs returned by the API are held in our cache for a maximum of 6 hours and then deleted automatically — well inside the 30 days the YouTube Developer Policies allow. We store no YouTube user data, no watch history and no authenticated data of any kind, because the site never signs you in to YouTube.

Revoking access. Since this site never asks for access to your YouTube account, there is nothing to revoke here. You can review and remove third-party access to your Google account at any time via the Google security settings page.

How we use and process it, and who we share it with

How it is used. Your preference text has exactly one purpose: to build and order the feed you asked for. It is interpreted into topics and exclusions, those topics become search queries, and the results are ranked against what you said you wanted. It is not used to profile you, to train any model, or for advertising.

How it is processed. The text is sent to Anthropic's API, which returns a structured set of interests, exclusions and per-item relevance scores. Ranking itself happens on our server in ordinary code. A copy of the finished feed is cached for up to 6 hours against the text of the preference, so an identical request does not have to be rebuilt.

Internal parties. There are none. This is a personal project run by one person, with no team, no employees and no affiliates. No one else has access to it, and nothing is transferred to any other business.

External parties. Only the service providers needed to produce the feed, and only the data each one needs: your preference text to Anthropic for interpretation and ranking; derived search terms (not your full text) to the YouTube Data API, NewsAPI and the iTunes Search API; and request metadata to Vercel, which hosts the site, and Upstash, which stores the cache and rate-limit counters. Each handles it under its own policy.

Never. Nothing is sold, rented or shared for advertising or marketing. There are no ad networks, no marketing trackers and no data brokers. YouTube API Data is never passed to any third party, and never to any advertising service.

Opting out of analytics

Visit any page with ?notrack=1 and that browser stops sending analytics events. ?notrack=0 undoes it. The setting lives in your browser, so it applies per device.

Contact

This API Client is operated by Ali Daftarian, an individual developer based in Oakland, California, United States.

Questions or removal requests

Deletion. Everything stored here expires on its own: cached preferences and any cached YouTube data within 6 hours, rate-limit counters within the hour. Nothing is tied to an identity, so there is no account to delete — clearing your browser storage removes the local copy immediately. If you want a specific cached entry removed sooner, ask and it will be deleted.
